#CanCantDont – Pastel Nails

Believe it or not, it is officially Spring! For this week’s CanCantDont we decided to try out Pastel Nails – after all, what says Spring better than Pastel nails? Read on to see how we got on…

Amrita – I suggested the trend of Spring nails this week because the weather had been shining and pastels were everywhere I looked. I opted for ‘Lemon Meringue’ by Models Own which is a creamy pastel yellow, a colour which I absolutely love, and I have to say that it’s an all around winner!

The consistency is perfect, the shade isn’t too loud and it looks pretty with all outfits so you really can’t go wrong. I know paler skin toned beauties may find pastel yellow a no-go-area but I think they might be pleasantly surprised which this number because it’s warmer than other pastels on the market so it won’t look washed out.

Verdict: Can

Elaine – I love a pastel nail. Even when it comes to the darker winter months and everyone starts rocking blood reds and midnight blues I find it difficult to let go of all my pastel favourites. Lilacs, yellows and peaches are all staples even when my hands are also turning a fetching shade of pastel blue thanks to freezing temperatures. I knew that I was never going to dislike this week’s Can Can’t Don’t so I chose a trusty Color Club duck egg shade to apply.

Verdict: Can

Lizzy – Spring has sprung, which means we can ditch the grey and dark red winter hues, in favour of some colour talons.  We chose Pastels to ease us into colourful nails, and with all the sherbert lemons and mint greens around in Fashion, there couldn’t be a more suitable theme.  I chose to use Sally Hansen’s nail polish in Green Tea, and I love this.  Pastels can brighten up your overall outfit, and I love clashing nail polish to whatever you’re wearing.  I shall certainly be keeping up this trend all season!

Verdict: CAN!

Neelam – I’m a big dark nail polish fan, you’ll hardly see me rocking any brights or pastels – even during the warmer months! So when Amrita suggested pastel nails for this week’s CanCantDont, I thought it would be the perfect opportunity to try out something new and get out of this little dark nail polish rut I’ve been in. I tried Barry M’s new Gelly Rose Hip shade. It’s a VERY pale pink almost verging on white. It took about 3 coats to get it opaque and took an age to dry but it was all worth it because I love it!

I’ll definitely be trying more pastel colours this Spring!

Verdict: Can

Christina – Pastel nails for Spring is a bit of a cliche, but there is a reason why everyone turns to pastel shades as the weather heats up year after year – it works! I love this look, it’s fresh and pretty on everyone’s nails. I used the new Barry M Silk nail paint in Meadow, a gorgeous mint green. After a season of darks and sparkles it’s refreshing to have a pastel shade on your nails. Go forth and pastel it up ladies!

Verdict: A big fat CAN!
