Festival Season Beauty

Now that the festival season is in full swing, it can only mean one thing – we’re one step closer to summer. In case you haven’t heard, Coachella -The California Music & Arts Festival has begun and will go on until the 24th April. To summarise, it’s basically a blend of boho/hipster chic, plenty of flower crowns and palm springs, plus a moshpit full of music lovers, living life to the fullest in the middle of a desert. The CCD Beauty girls have rounded up a few beauty essentials/tips to help you survive the craze. If you are heading for Coachella, well (we’re not jealous at all!) hopefully this post will be somewhat helpful. And if you’re not, we feel your pain but these essentials/tips can also be very helpful for the warmer months.

First up SPF, SPF, SPF! Don’t run the risk of getting red and raw from the sun, you’ll look and feel unattractive. So do sun protection the lazy girl way with Boots Soltan Once Invisible Pump Spray, £10. This summer festival essential will give you up to 8 hours protection!

Next you want to keep your face moisturised throughout the day. (But girls, this isn’t just a spring/summer beauty tip, so never skip it). In our festival kit you’ll find Odylique’s Timeless Rose Moisturiser (£23.00), which is high in antioxidants and contains jojoba and coconut oils, thus is very soothing as well as providing your skin with the right protection. If you find yourself spending quite some time in the moshpit, you will probably need to give your skin a thorough cleanse to remove all the impurities that may be clogging your pores. However, if this is your least favourite beauty chore then opt for cleansing wipes! We love Olay Daily Facials Cleansing Cloths! Quick and super easy.

A toner is literally your best friend during spring/summer as it helps freshen the face, which is probably what your skin will be craving for throughout your endless partying. Janjira’s Marine Radiant White Brightening Toner (£20.00) includes ingredients like Algowhite, which works to instantly brighten, hydrate and refresh the skin, leaving your face Instagram ready!

Your lips are almost melanin free, so protecting them from the sun should be your priority especially if you’re planning on coating them with lip products. To keep your lips hydrated throughout the day try Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Formula Original Ultra Moisturizing Lip Balm £1.99. This little miracle balm is enriched with Vitamin E and with the added benefit of SPF 15 will help prevent and protect chapped, cracked or wind-burned lips. Pucker up girls!

The last thing you want is for your makeup to be melting off mid way through a medley. If you do want that extra coverage then stay away from heavy foundations and instead choose something lighter, perhaps a BB cream or tinted moisturiser. Our got- to tinted moisturiser is Nars Cosmetics Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturiser SPF 30, £29.50. Infused with lush, naturally derived botanicals and ingredients, it will immediately help thirsty skin feel hydrated, while the advanced oil free formula provides a translucent veil of colour and sun protection.

Next up you want a good highlighter, and remember if your highlighter can’t be seen from space, you’re simply not wearing enough, so to keep our make-up bag as light weight as possible we’ll be packing the one and only Sleek Face Contour Kit, £9.99!  This much loved cult product contains a sculpting powder, highlighter and blush!

Now for the fun part, glitter eye shadows! Eyes are probably the best way to glam up your look, especially if the rest of your makeup is minimal and during festival season the brighter the colour the better. We love NYX Roll On Eye Shimmers, £5.50. They will add lustre to your look, and with an array of fab colours to choose from that roll easily onto your face and body you can create the perfect festival look! And did we mention they are small enough to pop into your bum bag for on-the-go sparkle!

Whether you’re going for boho waves or boho braids, it’s going to need quite a bit of sun protection spray (yes your hair deserves equal amount of attention as well as your skin), so try Ultrasun UV Hair Protector £24, your hair will thank you for it! And don’t forget dry shampoo, because let’s face it, there’s no chance you’ll be sharing those skanky showers when there’s field fun to be had. Festivals are what dry shampoo was made for and every year without a doubt, we’ll be packing Batiste Original, £1.99. There really is no other dry shampoo like it!

Neon coloured nails or even nail art is pretty much perfect for Coachella and festival season in general. The best thing about nails is that you can experiment with it however you like, so why not step out of your comfort zone and try something different? House of Holland have amazing selection of nail art to choose from and you will literally be spoilt for choice ladies. So check out their website and go wild!

So that’s about it, but remember the three HOLY GRAIL beauty essentials for spring/summer festival season:
